Muscat: The Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA) is holding a media meeting to review its achievements and strategic projects, and to enhance levels of transparency and partnership.

Dr. Jokha bint Abdullah al Shukaili, chairperson of OAAAQA, said that the Royal Decree No. (12/2026) represented a new stage in the Authority’s path, through amending its name, establishing the National Center for Measurement, and expanding its competencies to include vocational and technical education.

OAAAQA has launched the National System for Evaluating School Performance, which aims to raise the standards of school education and ensure academic excellence by conducting comprehensive performance evaluations based on well-defined standards and indicators. It targets 1,800 public and private schools, 39 higher education institutions, and 800 academic programs that cater to more than one million students.

The evaluation process includes field visits by specialized teams and the preparation of detailed reports outlining strengths and areas for improvement in each school.

It provides the Ministry of Education with accurate data and performance indicators, helping to identify best practices to enhance the educational process and replace ineffective practices.
